Weight-distributing brackets
I have the correct HITCH for a WD system and I have seen several sets of bars for a WD hitch at the local swap meets, but they never have the attachment that goes to the frame of the trailer. Do they vary depending on the trailer?
Since I am not intimate with the WD system, I need to know what to look for.
On my Eaz Lift set, they look like a saddle that sits over the rails on each side of the A frame. They have a big horse shoe shaped piece with a hook/spike on it. This piece swivels up and down. The chain links go onto the hook/spike. When the piece is swiveled up, it tightens the chain.
Othes I have seen had slotted holes, Cam type systems etc. So you will need to tell us what brand and maybe model hitch you have before we can tell you what to get.
The bars are shaped different too depending on the brand of hitch. The Eaz Lift bars are shaped like a giant Allen wrench(Big L shape) with the short side sliding up into the bottom of the hitch on the truck. The long side has the chains.
Good Luck,
Jim Henderson
