Good Alternator not Charging?
My neighbor has an '86 Bronco with a 351. The alternator will not charge. We took it to an alternator shop and saw that it puts out 14 volts so we know it works. I think we don't have it wired correctly. To make matters more complicated we have stripped the inside of the truck of the dash, doors, and several other things. It has been a trail only rig but won't see much trail action if it doesn't charge. Can someone tell me what wire is used to "excite" the alternator to begin charging. I think that's our problem but I stink at spark chasin'. Any help would be appreciated.
