"discovered" these little numbers under my dash, where the trans hump in the floor, behind the shifter, meets the firewall. they seem to be mounted to a vent, or a piece of plastic of some kind. check it out:
im not the first owner, and the previous owner, or perhaps the one before him, have made some...shall we say...interesting choices? involving aftermarket accessories. some legit, some weird, like neon lights under the dash board. but anyway, they may be an aftermarket addition, but they do look rather stock. any thoughts?
power to a console information center like mine? lights up with brake lights, oil, etc etc when you push a button. do you have a console and if so does it have power?
If you don't have the console Cootvon is probabliy right, the wiring harness are normally desigh to include most options even if the truck doesn't get them.
What year is your BII? Do you have or had electric shift 4x4? Do you have the premium sterio system?
I have 2 89 BII one is a Eddie Bauer the other just plain jane. My Eddie bauer has the ford premium sterio system (which has a factory amp) and is shift on the fly, (electric shift t-case) It has the plugs you show. I belive the plug on the right in your picture goes to the electronic control module for the t-case. I traked the wires under the carpet and ubder the driver set. The ECM is mounted behind the driver seat under the rear molding. Not sure about the other. My second plug just plugs into a small silver box mounted under the dash, but it looks a little different then yours.
My other 89 does not have either plug. It is a manual t-case and am/fm only sterio.
> The ECM is mounted behind the driver seat under the rear molding
Actually, that should be the RABS computer.
The ECM (12a650) should be under the pass. dash kick panel. FWIW.
This thing has way to many electronic control things.
The RABS on a 89 BII is under the instrument panel, on 87-88 it is located on the pillar behind the drivers seat, accessed through the panel there. The ECA (Electronic Control Assembly) which is the computer for the EEC-IV system is located under the kicker panel on pass side. The ECM Electronic Control Module for the electronic shift T-case is located behind the driver seat under the panels. There should be a removable panel door there.
From looking at the service manual the second small plug in the picture may go to the RABS. In my picture it is the one mounted to the dash.
