Hey just got this truck, 1984 F150 2x4 Texas Lariat, it has the 2V 351W and C6 tranny, and I believe a 9inch rear with 3.50 gears? Does that sound right? The door tag code for the axle is 16. I'll crawl under her tomorrow to look at the tag. Working AC, cruise, power brakes, power steering, wood grain besell and carpet. Has bench seat, dual tanks. No power windows or locks. This truck is all original except for the engine, It was replaced with another factory 351W and currently only has 60,000 on it. Body colors are metallic brown top and bottom with cream color middle. Interior Tan. This truck I think is nice. does anyone have any info on the Texas Lariat packages that may have been produced. any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
I have an XLT Lariat same year same truck. I have had it for over 12 years and until it recently caught fire (long story, not my fault) it has been perfect. Now looking for parts to rebuild her. I can't be specifi on yours, but I can say you'll be very happy with it.
I bought a Texas Lariat xlt F150 (1984) about a month ago and it on had 71.577 miles on it. Motor runs good but I had in garage getting something done to it cause it has sit alot, just got her back to day got ac/heater working. Does yours have the emblum on bacl fenders that says Texas Lariat Edition on it. I have been trying to find out how many like this there are. mine is the light on top and bottom and brown in middle.Did you buy yours in Texas (I did) mine has the roll up windows and 302 engine auto
Texas Lariat just means it was sold in Texas. Every truck on the lot out here in EP, TX is a Texas edition. Only used vehicles that came from out of state don't bear that. Of course most Texans are proud of being Texan, so it makes sense.

I don't mean to hijack the thread or anything but did you mean EP,TX as in El Paso Texas?
I live in texas and I had never seen that Texas Emblem that had the lariat on it before so glad to know that. Since it came on truck when redone will put in on again. I'm just gpomg to enjoy running around in My Truck !!! Thanks itseybit I wasn't sure about the EP either.
"Texas" Lariat would have been a dealer promotion. There's no emblem like this listed in the Ford truck parts catalog.
Yeah, those badges were shipped with the trucks, but not installed. Each state had their own unique badges too. Oklahoma got "Oklahoma 89er" badges that featured an oil derrick on them. I'm not sure it was a nationwide promotion, or just something that occurred in the southwestern region states.
I worked at a dealer, in the "make ready" dept, during the early 80's. Part of this entailed adding the badges to the trucks that were part of this promotion. Not all trucks came with them, just a select few. Mostly, mid to upper level XLT package trucks.
I think it may have been a corporate level promotion, done on a state by state basis, to help boost sales of an already popular vehicle......
The dealer installing these badges dictated their exact placement. Some were installed on the front fenders, near the "F150" logo, and some were placed on the rear of the bedsides.
Thank you for the information I just wanted to find out,the daughter of man who bought truck is bring me another set of keys and paperwork on truck, when it was bought.
