Part Number codes
Is there any where I can find out the part number codes? I once was told by a parts person that the part number gave a lot of info such as year, model etc.. But I have since forgotten. I am trying to cross check a radio for a 2001 F-150. The old part # is YW7F 19B132 AA. The new part is F87F 19B132 AB. I don't have the part in front of me and I'm trying to see if this radio will fit.

About Ford's numbering system.
The 1st 4 digits relates to the vehicle that the part was designed for and who designed and created it.
The YW7F is weird
The F87F means
F =decade = 90's
8 = actual year 1998
7 = Courier (1971-82)
Ranger/Bronco II (1983-up);
F = General Parts/Electrical and Electronics Division
The 19B132-AA or AB is what describes the part or part application.
In your case, a radio.
Remember this though.
The number on a part is not an actual Ford part number.
It may be a ID number that Ford uses.
