My favorite was the Tune-up on his LTD, he was looking for the manual and emptied an unbelievable amount of junk out of the car. Reminds me of the Inlaws cars.
I am Canadian (^my real last name also is Ferguson coincidentally ^)and Red Green is on at least 3 channels here any given weekend. Smith and Smith was so lame it's amazing he ever got another show, kind of a musical comedy along the lines of the Smothers Brothers, but with his wife.
It's great that he never apologizes or tries to hide that he's Canadian on Red Green, rare in a Canadian show, where they are always trying to slough off snowy Toronto or rainy Vancouver as Los Angeles or Texas.. When was the last time anyone could see their breath in frosty LA?
Yeah, I remember that Smith and Smith show..totally lame. Sunday night variety show.
I've always heard that RG was big in the states. Its nice to see that the CBC can actually come up with a show that is good enough to be exported to the U.S. With the exception of Hockey Night In Canada, which, in any case, should be the official station of the NHL (Wouldn't it be cool if Ron McLean was Prime Minister and did HNIC? - Maybe someday).
Does the states get Trailer Park Boys? (not a CBC production, the content's to racy for them - I think that is on Showcase here in Canada) They don't always expressly express their Canadianity, but its filmed in Nova Scotia and its pretty obvious that its Canadian. Its a hilarious show (although, understandably, not everyone can appreciate the humor - drugs, foul language, Randy's Gut etc).
That's too bad about the RG show though. Keep your stick on the ice, Red!

Trailer Park boys is dead funny, probably wouldn't be so much so if those people weren't so close to reality. I am not sure it would fly in the States.. too many people living in trailer parks who would complain.
That guy who always has a Rye and Coke in his hand just kills me,,, never spills a drop.
My parents watch Red Green every week. It airs on Saturday nights. I watch it when the wife isn't watching. I work with a woman who is the county sanitarian and she has an autographed photo of Rothchild. As for whether it will continue in re-runs... Depends on your local PBS station in the states. We still get re-runs of "Keeping Up Appearances" the British sit-com from the late '80s early '90s. Funny stuff, even now.
And comparing Red Green to Jeff Foxworthy is a pretty good choice. Not the kind of humor that Hollywood or New York City would come up with, but really appreciated all over the rest of the continent.
And if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
I watch the show from time to time. I liked the one where he made the variable wheelbase car. He took an old Toyota Corolla, took of the back suspension and tires and attached it to an old boat trailer. The then used the strap and the crank to shorter or lengthen the wheelbase of the car.
Good stuff...
Octane
lol the cigarette car, zamboni, hummer and the bath a ques had to be the best. I loved that season. Oh and by the way..... its not exactly an all mans show. My g/f loves it. Thats why I keep her! Give me and her some popcorn and a few beers and we're settled in on a saturday night. God I love her lol.
Any of you remember the dragster made from an extension ladder, a lawnmower, a baby carriage and a lawn chair? I still laugh when I think about that one.
I liked the one where he cut a big hole in the center of a station wagon, and put a big pole in the middle of it so he could pivot it to parallel park....
his antics totally crack me up
Anyone see the episode where he built a cable car so he wouldn't have to walk up a hill. Then while building it he climbed the hill about 5 times. Used a honda civic, burned the tire off the spare (after giving up on using tools), duct taped the rim to a front wheel, ran a cable from the wheel up the hill around a tree and back to the bumper, pulled the bumper off the car, reattached the cable, sawed the tree in half which fell on the car.
The first time I saw Red Green, I think was 97. Laughed my tucus off. Then the handyman's corner spot played, and my jaw hit the floor! I was watching my father, only this was funny! I started watching it whenever I could, then my local station took it off for a bit, then his duct tape movie came out and they started again. As far as I know, I have never seen a new episode and as soon as he retires, they will probably cancel it. I'd like to see them keep it, and bring the new Doctor Who back, never got to see the last Doctor from that at all. That is what makes me believe they will cancel it before it's done.
A sign of a true professional, is no wrinkles in the duct tape!
