I have a 1999 F150 with the 4.6ltr in it. I just have a few questions as far as tuning goes....first off, what can I realistically expect out of a aftermarket tuner for these trucks? I know my way around GM drivability, and I deal with GM aftermarket and performance everyday, but I really dont kno the fords to well.
I have never had the wide band on this truck, so I dont know what the AF is at WOT, BUT I assume its a little on the fat side to keep it safe. Are there programers out there that do a good job of pulsing the injectors down to get it to 13:1...as well as adding any more timing? I assume they are a liitle reserved on that as well.
That brings me into my next question, does any company offer adjustable fuel pressure regulators for these vehicles as well?
Other than that, i have 117,000 miles on this thing, I am not looking to pull a 20' enclosed trailer with it or anything, but I would like a little more throttle responce with it, as this thing is sort of a dog.
You can expect, from a dyno perspective, about 10% more horse power and 12-15% more torque. 1/4 mile times, however, reflect even better because PCM torque reduction strategies are reduced and the transmission is optimized with a more aggressive strategy, and throttle response is greatly improved.
If you want to play around with fueling, you'll need to use a Diablo Sport Predator (very nice for this type of thing), or SCT Xcalibrator2 (not as handy for this but will do it plus its custom programmed).
