Oil sending unit
I noticed this thing is located on the side of the block, and was wondering if I can expect a bunch of oil to come out when I pull it. If so, I'll wait until I change the oil again to swap it. (77 351W).

No, you'll just get a brief dribble that's easily cleaned up (unless, of course, you try to change it with the engine running!) It's up high enough that it's above the oil level in the sump, and there's not a big resevior of oil sitting behind it or anything, so go for it!

I didn't get a single drop out of mine, but while you are there, it is worth the $5 to get a threaded pipe from the hardware store and extend it out past the filter so you never have to mess with the radiator hose again.
