doesnt work. Until i get it fixed, is there any way to tell if it is getting too hot? It doesnt seem to be too hot but was just wondering? And also how do i tell if hte fan clutch is working properly? And since i have never stuck a thermostat closed, what are the signs of a stuck thermostat? I want to be sure i catch it right away if it ever does decide to stick. So till i get the gauge fixed, any way to tell if it is tooo hot? Oh, where might one start to fix a thermo gauge that never has moved? Also bought this truck couple months ago, so dont have much history.. Sooo any ideas???
It sounds like a wire is broken or disconnected. Do a visual inspection. If you can tell us the details of your truck, somebody might know the "likely culprit".
I don't know an easy way to tell if your truck is overheating before damage begins. I guess that's why they have a gauge.
if you have a multimeter with a temp probe, you might be able to get a general and inaccurate reading on the temp by sticking the probe on the upper rad hose and on through the fins of the rad up by the upper rad hose.
I would install an aftermarket temp gauge rather than fix the stock b/c from my research on this board, the stock seems to be pretty relative for readings.
