I've got a 00 4x4 which had a back shock break a few months ago, so the rear shocks were replaced, and the tires rotated front to back. The flat spots I noticed on the (now) front tire I atributed to the previously broken shock, after an alignment and and 3 balancings I decided to replace all the tires because I could not get the wobbling to stop. No dice. Still have steering wobble and some serious dash bouncing when braking. What could it be?
Thanks for some ideas, I did have the brakes looked at by two different shops, both said they looked good (you'd think they would notice something like warped rotors), but I'll have the rotors examined along with the tie rods and anything else anybody can come up with before tuesday.
The X has almost 115k on it now.

Reason: fixing one typo & trying to get signature to show up

If all they did was a visual inspection, They would not be able to tell completly if the rotors are warped or if they have high or low spots in them, they should be checked with the proper machine, or just ask them to try and turn them.

Tomorrow morning I will be picking up my X with two new front rotors, they say ball joints, etc. are tight. Yup, they had to use something to detect that the front rotors were indeed warped, but I've already forgotten the terminology. After some serious driving, (although I plan to be gentle with my braking for a time with the new rotors) I will post tomorrow night the results.
Thanks for the helpful suggestions.
