2004 f150 5.4 Max Micro tuner 1714. When tuning it asks for wheel height. 275/60/20 that would be 32.99 inches, however if I input this as 33 inches my speedometer is way off. Am I supposed to measure directly from the ground to the top of the tire manually? Instead of doing it mathematically. I think it would be around 32.25 which would be closer to actual speed? HELP
you need to use the rolling radius. take a tape measure and measure from the center of the front wheel to the ground (your rolling radius) and then double that measurement. you are entering the theoretical tire height which will be too big since your tires squat when on the truck. i had this exact problem with my superchips tune. i actually did the rolling radius x 2 - .25" and my spedo is spot on.
I've got 15 1/2 inches from center to ground. Double would be 31 inches, however it's 32 inches if I measure from ground to highest point on tire. Which one would you suggest I use. Scott
i would go with 31" or even 30.75. you may even have to go lower to get it just right. ignore the 32". i would bet if you measure from center to the top of the tire it is greater than 15.5" and if you measure center to gorund on the rear tire it is probably more than 15.5". also, don't forget the actual tire size is always smaller that the stated sidewall size to start with.
i have 285/70R17's and and i started with 33" in my tuner and it was way off. i can't remember where i finally ended up but it was well below 33". i just played with it a while and kept changing it till i got it right.
