i am so new to fe stuff please be patient.
i. can a 391 block use reg 390 heads if so how high will it raise compression asuming pre 70 FE heads
2. since engine is externally balance do they make an auto flexplate for the 391
3. should i just get a differant 390 and forget the 391 its free but the crank need regrind the pistons are new . i ask about the Ft heads because i hear they fall down at about 3500 rpm
4 do i need to do a search and find all this info on my own
1 can't really say because the pistons play a big role in it
2 the flexplate is the same as the 390 and other fe's
3 the ft would need a lot of work
4 check out the fe engine forum
Welcome to FTE. 72 f250cs. The 391 is a heavy duty work horse made for slow speed operation and lots of low speed torque. It could be a great block to bore out to 428 size if you want that but should be sonic checked first. I would then use 390 heads and 428 crank. That would be a real performer. Depends on what you want and can afford to spend, as always.
