Drum Brakes Aren't Fitting
I have a 1965 F-100 with 4whl drums. I tore them down the other day to replace the shoes and hardware. Three of the four drums were easy, they only took me maybe 15min each. But the right rear is killing me. It will not fit together for anything. I even tried to put the old brake shoes back on to see if I could get them to fit, but they wouldn't go either. It seems as though the bar that connects between the two is at fault, but it works fine on the identical setup on the other side. Every time I go to connect the springs, one sid or the other gets pushed off into the groove around the edge on the backing plate. I'm not used to having a brake job get the best of me, so any help would be appreciated.
