I have a 78 F150 460/c6/np203 4x4 and 79 F150 351m/4sp man./np203 4x4.
I want to swap the transfer cases and have been told that it is possible. My questions are:
Can I remove the transfer cases without removing the transmission?
Do I have to remove the cross member of the frame?
Once removed, are the adapters an exact match or will I have to swap some parts from case to case?
I read the tech article here about removing the tranny and t-case, but I can't tell which steps can be eliminated if I only to remove the t-case.
yes you can remove the t case without removing the tranny. no you donot have to or will you need to remove the crossmember. since they are both 203 cases the adaptor should be the same. there are six bolts coming from front to rear where the case bolts to the adaptor. if you havent changed a t case before, get someone to help you. also get a tranny jack, the t case is extremely heavy and very hard to handel by your self.
