hey all,
I've been searching but have not found exactly what I was looking for.
I've got a '03 CC F250 with a V10.....short bed.
I'm looking at possible getting a 2 car hauling trailer and i'm not sure which is best.......goose neck or standard tongue. Average trailer weights are just under #4,000 and 34 to 36' long. My 2 rigs (jeeps) are about #3000+ each.
Total towing weight would be around 10,000 lbs.
I could give my theories, but thats why I come to this board
So, what are the pros and cons of each and/or which is best and why?
with that kind of length and weight, you will be way happier with a gooseneck, because of hitch capability and turning and stability. I would never consider that much weight on the tail because of the fact of how it makes the truck drive. When you consider 10% of the hitch weight is acceptable fot the rear hitch vs. about 25% max on the goose, I would say the choice should be fairly clear... it also loads the steer axle rather than unloading it... when it comes to backing or sharp turns, you'll never want to go back to a bumper pull, just be sure to watch your turning radius if you have anything sticking out from the frame on the goose hitch, it will take out the back window and/or cab, just ask my sister...
I have both kinds of trailer, the single car is bumper pull, the 2 car is goose. For trailing stability and load capacity, the goose can't be beat.

I agree, go with the gooseneck. There is no comparison in terms of stability.
