Hmmm...If your truck gray, you and I are gonna have to talk.
Welcome to FTE.
You will find the engine build date label affixed to the FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module) which is located to the rear and just above the driver side valve cover. Hard to see 'cause you have to look around the degas coolant bottle etc....I have found that a flash light helps.
An example of how the white label will read: 03-10-03...3rd day - 10th month - year '03.
To verify also look at the passenger side valve cover for the IPC sensor attached to the forward area of the valve. This indicates that it is for sure an '04 engine build...by it's design.
Your engine build date is very useful info as you read thru the 6.0 forum.
Good luck and feel free to fire away with question, concerns, or just smooth out bragging.
I just picked up an 04 SC 4x4 LB 6.0L 5spd auto. I see people have an 04 truck with an 03 motor. How do I tell if I have one. Build date is 10/03
Thanks,
Chris

Boy, you are right on the hump but, I think Sept 29 was the last '03 engine production day....now look at the passenger side valve cover for the ICP sensor toward the forward area, top of valve cover. If the cover in this area is w/o sensor it is an '03.
