Hello everyone,
Maybe someone can help me on this cause i'm going crazy.
My stop lights have stoped working. Bulbs ok, and all fuses check out ok as well.
I tried the Brake switch or as some call it "BOO switch" and thats not the problem either. Im taking my truck in for speed control recall in 2 weeks.
I dont want to have the techs fix iy cause that'll mean money I dont want to spend.
Does any body have any ideas?? I have a service manual for it (I think its a hayes).
If wires are not broken at(boo brake on off) brake light switch(probe wire a couple in. away from plug while holding brake pedal down, wire breaks but insulation is intack) sounds like bad multifunction switch(aka turn signal switch)turn lights light right showing bulb is good. Also always helps to tell us what year your truck is
Sorry bout that. The f150 is a 2000. And the the right/left turn signals work as well as the flashers.
Is the muliti function switch the one on the steering wheel???
Yah .remove column cover screws and remove top and bottom to get to.Tilt wand will prob have to be removed to get lower cover off(don't remove steering wheel). Two Torx head screws hold switch, and two wire plugs plugged into it--But look at color of wire from output side of brake light switch and make sure with brake pedal pushed power is coming into multifunction on tht wire(if it is, more than likly bad multifunction switch-- if not poss broken wire or bad brake light swtich)GOOD LUCK!!!
