Ivan & anyone else w/ a PS filter

http://www.supermotors.org/vehicles/....php?id=233489

Do you think that will be OK or should I go hunting again?

Probably be okay, but dang, that thing is TINY. Plus, and maybe this is just me, but it looks like it would impede flow a little. I'd rather see you use something with more surface area. Heres mine and its the shizzle:

http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...oroso%20filter

edit: I don't know why the link wont work properly. Just go to summit and type in part number MOR-41200 and you'll see it.

Ok, thanks. Im also a little worried about it colapsing and getting sucked into my cooler. That would be bad.
Damn that filter is expensive... $69.00 My tranny cooler that Im using now cost around $50.00...

Pro is your hydro assist stuff all done? I didnt know you were doing it yet...

I used one of those type before and it seemed to work okay but if you ever want to replace them they break off inside the hose and then you're hella screwed. I just went checking around for a canister style in town and didn't have any luck so I'm buying one like Pro has from Summit.

Isn't the Power Steering system basically closed, why do you really need a filter in it?

PS, Ivan, hurry up and tell us what you had to call Pro about!

Looks like an AC oriface tube. Ivan is right they can be a PITA to remove especialy when clogged. The filters we use on our wreckers hydraulic systems use a large screw on canisters. A remote oilfilter kit would most likely work but they also make inline filters for trannys that are attached to the cooler lines using flare nuts. They are about 2" in dia. and 4" long. These I'd think would be perfect for PS.

Bob, the tranny cooler you described is what Pro is linking to off of Summit. =)

Heres what else I keep finding.
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...39&prmenbr=361

Id like what Pro has just because that would only help with cooling, and It just adds more fluid. Hell, after the cooler, hydraulic cylinder, filter, resevoir, and all that hoses I bet my PS system holds more PS fluid than a civic does oil. (not really, but I bet its close. well see)

Damn...$69.00. Not to mention the delivery time that I dont have to spare...
Jegs sells the same part for $69.00 as well, but jegs ships for free. I may have to express it here.

Edit:
Free ground shipping, be here next Weds.
$10.00 2 day, be here Tues.
$20.00 "Overnight" be here Mon.
$35.00 Saterday special, be here Sat.

This is the thing that will be holding my truck up from running next week. Allow me to explain: My engine is not in right now and I cannot get it in. I do not have nor can I (practically) buy a hoist large enough to support my block (stripped it weighs 1250 lbs) I have a tracto but it ha absolutely no finesse to it and moves to rapidly and only in certain directions to use. Therefore I am having a shop bolt it to hte tranny and crossmemeber. Ill finish everything else up before/after it goes/returns. In order to send it I have to have everything on the PS hooked up.

They all ship "for free" and then charge a handling fee, both Summit and Jug's do that.

Saurian, little particles floating around your system will eat up the pump. I could be contaminent that gets into the resevoir, it could be tiny particles coming from regular wear on the pump, misc crap that gets in hoses before they're installed, etc. There's a lot of little junk that can burn out a PS pump quickly.

Check my edit above.
AND
I know what I can do.
Im having him fill up the PS pump/system while its in the shop so I dont have to pay a 2-way hauling fee. Then I get to drive my baby home. And immediately begin the thrashing. In order to have the pump filled and be able to install the filter later I can put a petcock shutoff below the tranny cooler and then when it comes home shut that off and just keep the lower section of the hose up so it wont drain.then I can connect it all. Make sense? if it doesnt just know ill get something to work out. Ill check locally for that cooler/filter. I KNOW that Ive seen it before, just dont know where... Ill get on the phone tomorrow.

Yeah... I know what you mean.
I cant wait for my endless project of a truck to end...sorta... if you know what I mean. If it ends then so does all the build-up fun. Only thing after that is boggin. Thats a whole lot off fun, but wrenching with buddies is half of the fun...
