Thumbs up Newbie with remote entry problems

Hello all! I am new to this site so I hope I am posting in the right place. I purchased a 2003 F-250 3 days ago. The truck came with one factory entry remote that unfortunatly did not work. First thought was the battery. Change it and still did not work. Reprogram attempt and still nothing. Disconnected negative battery cable, reconnected and tried again; nothing???? Programed remote for wifes expedition and our explorer with no problems, but this one has me confused. When I try to reprogram the remote the locks do not lock and unlock to confirm reprogram mode? This one really has me stumped! Anyone have this problem or have any suggestions on what to do next? Thanks

Does it by chance have remote start? If it does, the key on key off method is not the way into progamming mode.

Sometimes the electrical actuators in the door go haywire. If the locks work with with the door buttons that is probably not the problem. Good luck .

No remote start? I took the truck to the dealer and was told that because the truck was purchased in Texas the southwest region uses different keyless entry types than central region! How rediculous is that!!! No help from the dealer. I have no idea what to do next???? Thanks for your input mstrfxit12!

Try pulling the remote apart and cleaning the battery contacts. Mine quit working and after cleaning the contacts worked just fine. Q-tip and some rubbing alcohol work good. Also look at the contacts on the chip under the button, if they are dirty, a quick clean will help.

Keyless Entry

Are you sure that the truck is equipped with keyless entry ??? My 2003 F-250 XLT is not. If you cycle the ignition on & off 8 times, do the lock actuators cycle down & up ??? If they don't, like mine, then the truck is probably not equipped with that option.

Thanks for the advice fellas. I will give it a good cleaning to see if there is any difference. I am almost certain that it has the keyless entry option because it came with the remote and has what I believe to be the keyless entry module under the dash to the left of the steering column. Do you guys think that it could possibly be a faulty module? I am thinking that might be the problem and not the remote. If it will not confirm program mode after on/off program cycle. What do you think???
