IM TRYING TO FIND A ALTERNATE MOUNTING LOCATION FOR A PYROMETER GUAGE(NO PILLAR MOUNTS)... HAS ANY ONE COME UP WITH ANY CLEAN INSTALLS? MABEY AN IN-DASH MOUNT? I HAVE A 2005 SD!!! PLEASE HELP
You could do a single guage on the column mount, like mine. Auto Meter makes a plastic piece that slips over the top of the column, looks clean, and you get to keep your handle.
Try checking with Diesel Performance Parts (one of the sponsors) they have a guage pod that fits in the headliner above the rear view mirror. I'm gettin mine installed on 8/26 along with some other upgrades so I can't tell you exactly how it will work until then.
The members have hit most of the options, you have the steering cloumn, mount, under dash mount, over the rear view mirror mount, and in dash for 2 gauges mount options. We have them listed on our site if you want to check them out.
I have not picked up my 05 yet, so I don't really know what the dash is set up like yet. However, since you are only installing one gauge, how about in the ash tray. This is where I mounted the pyro in my 94 chevy. left it closed most of the time, but when pulling a trailer or anytime i was concerned, just open the ash tray.
I used a pillar mount, but with the single gauge and kept the factory handle. I know you said no pillar mount, but I wasn't sure if it was because you didnt want to lose the handle. See link.
Check out the X-Monitor from BD-Power. It is a digital gauge that does pyro, tranny, and turbo and also records the max values since last reset.
If you exceed a user programmed maximum the display will start to flash. If you have the optional CES module installed you can also get an audible alarm when you exceed your user defined max.

Daryl, where did you pick up your X-Monitor at? I can't seem to find them at motorhaven, dieselmanor or DPP.
