What we have is 92 4x4 ranger with 2.8 with the M5OD R1 and were looking to put in another out of 2wd of the same year is this possible ? may other than changing tail shaft ? the 2wd is 2.3 are these the same tranny even ? Or what years will fit ? And do they have to be out of 4x4 ?
I would like to say thanks for the help now, and have looked at the forum before with much help looks like there are lot's of good people on here thanks again.
I would just rebuild the transmission, assuming you have the tools and the skills. These transmissions are not terribly complicated or difficult but you will need a couple of tools the average mechanic doesn't keep on hand. What is the problem with this transmission anyway? If you decide to replace it I would try to find one from a 4x4 with the same engine, they did use different ratios depending on the application.
Well the rebuild is out of the question because it is craked up towards the bell housing part of it, so it looks like i will search around for one about the same year, i do know where there is one with 4.0 the same year do you guy's think this one will work ? it may be different ratio's but we are just useing this truck for the woods dont think it would hurt much would it ? thanks again for all the help.
