I have a 2004 Ford Ranger 2 wheel drive XLT with 2.4L. I want more power and my friend has a 2.9L cologne V6 engine sitting in his garage which he is basicly going to give to me. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to put one of these engines in a newer vehicle and if it will even work. Im pretty sure I am going to have to change the motor mounts and the computer but does any one know if it will work.

Both motors are rated almost identically in terms of horsepower and torque. You also would most likely void your entire warranty and you'd have emissions issues to deal with as well. Stick with your 4 banger!
