Wandering Gauges
1974 F100, 360, c6. My gas, temp, & oil pressure gauges all wander at the same time in the same direction. They'll move slightly to the right and then back with no rhyme nor reason. Obviously, this makes their accuracy in question. Do all gauages share a common wire that might be shorting out some how? Any advise to point me in the correct direction would be greatly appreciated.

Ford uses a regulator for the voltage supply to the guages. It usually is mounted to the circuit board on back of the instrument cluster. Take the cluster out, and it should be a little metal box with two electrical connections coming out of it.

Yes. It's called the instrument voltage regulator. I got one at a chain auto parts store but they had to order it in. You might have to force the person behind the counter to LOOK IN A BOOK but they are available. Should be less than $20
