hhhhhmmmmm what a bit of timing !!
I was home in Ontario the end of June and an old school mate told me she has a old truck in the bush. Went and looked at it and it is a long box 59 F100 !!!!!!!!!
She said her brother wanted it for his son. Well i called her tonight to she if he still wanted it and Mary said i can have for FREE........FREE....... a 59 F100........FREE.
The cab is better than mine and it's FREE.
My dilema is, the truck is Free, but i have to travel 14 hours to Kenora Ontario to get it. Now i can go back there to see the folks again and stay for free but i would use my son's Chevy S10 and trailer to bring back the cab and parts.
I don't have anything that would tow the whole truck home so i will take what i can (like the cab)
I have some days off, but do i want to spend them driving.
I can post the pictures of the truck right away in my profile....have a look I am open to suggestions. Is the lure of FREE not make sense for this truck ?

I looked at the pictures in your gallery Laynrubber. That truck looks like you should trailer the whole thing home. The box looked straight, except the very back corner. What it would cost about $300 on gas to get it. It also looks like it could be resurected back to life. Very minor rust in the cab.
like I mention before Warman automotive has a 58 with spare hood and box for sale at $800. So you be looking at buying a parts truck or cab here for about the cost of gas to get it, then gas here to travel to bring it home, so going for that truck in Ontario for free is cheap. So go for it.

Correction the truck is a 58, 3/4 ton.
The sides of the box are okay but the bed is gone (too long full of leaves and crap it has rusted out)
There is a 4 speed gear box i would like if it bolts to the 6 cyl bell housing (need to research that)
I have a car trailer......but nothing that would pull it home
The front fenders are shot and the drivers door is bad, glass.....windshield cracked-rest is good. It has a V8 (unknown the size) but it has been laying in the back of the truck for years so it maybe seized.
What i really want and need is still good ...... like the cab, hood and some misc parts.

The rear axle looks like it a Dana rearend in it. If that is any good you should grab it. Lots a guys looking for those to use on their 4x4's.
Too bad about the box, It would be nice just to cut the sides off and have as spares or sell to someone who needs the panels. Good luck on what you can get. I like the 57 to 60 style trucks, but I could get too much sitting around here then.

A friend of mine used his 93 Ranger with the 4.0 5 speed to haul his 66 Mustang on a trailer. The S10 should be able to handle the trailer with the complete truck as the 58 should not be too heavy. The engine should be a 292 V8 if it is the original, the 4 speed should bolt up to your bell housing but not positive about that. Sounds like it is worth thinking about. I have a 57 M100 that is fairly complete but has some rust. I also have a 59/60 F250 long box stepside and a 60 F600 for parts.
