tach wiring for this truck i know early/mid 90's had the tach signal already installed but my 87? if not there are like 8 wires coming out of my distributor which is my signal wire???
i'm putting a C6 in it with a 1800 stall B/M t/c and replacing the 3rd AOD, i have a 9 inch freshened and set up w/ a 4:11, this truck is my weekend cruiser but am i going to be wound out at like 50 mph if i use them both or what???
any good rear disc brake conversions out there other than the crap on ebay??
Tach signal should be coming from the negative side of the ignition coil. My '87 has a tach from the factory, so I'm guessing it is probably wired for one already.
i got the tach figured out tonight after some plugging with my DVOM i found i didn't have the harness for a tach, the dead plug was connected to some cruise control crap it looked like...
I don't know much about the auto's, but I would guess that highway speed cruising with the C6 and 4.11 gears will be mighty high rpms. There are several rear disc swaps, here's one I've found: http://www.tsmmfg.com/Ford_truck_rear_axles.htm

any help on my other 2 questions?
I dont remember which wires I moved, but I installed a cluster with the tach in the 87 I used to have. I believe the wire from the coil you need to tie into is green. Also a couple of the wires in in the connectors that plug into the back of the cluster will need to be moved to a different spot in the harness. It was several years ago when I did this but after I figured out which wires needed to be moved it was very easy. I used a haynes manual and just compared the new guage cluster to the old 1 to see where the different connections went. My 87 had 410 gears with the AOD trans. But it also had 16" tires. I found a new set at a tire shop someone had special ordered and never picked up. Got them for less than half what they cost. Made my 87 look good. Sorry I could not be more help.
