brakes

the brakes on my 1979 f-150 4x4 are hard to apply and do not stop very good i have good vacume and it holds pressure after the truck has been off for awhile any ideas what the problem could be need help please thanks

What size tires are you running? The bigger the tire the worse the braking action.

Are your rear brakes adjusted it helps a little with bigger tires.
