Today i did the first step towards my 77 crewcab 4x4 build up,i went and took the 460 engine i had int he corner of my garage,i plan on taking to my local engine builder where ill probably have a mild cam with possibly a rebuild because it has been in a garage ont he floor for about 8 years although it is still in good condition, does this sound like a good idea and what would a good cam be for off roading and daily driving?but my mail question is will the 460 engine which is from a mid 70's lincoln continental fit this truck with the proper brackets and mounts although the sticker on the vavle cover that has all the specs says auto transmission the truck is a 4 speed with reverse will the bell housings bolt up?thanks...mike btw anyone got any 8 lug ford old style or turbine rims for sale?:-)
You need to find a bellhousing from a 4 spd transmisson that was bolted behind a 460 because for example with a 351 bellhousing theres ribs on the inside of the transmission and the flywheel will hit these ribs. So it would be a good idea to find a bellhousing for your tranny that was behind a 460. The brackets shouldnt be a problem but i could be wrong. Good luck!
