i have a ford ranger and i want to make it loud, but i don't have the money for a new exhaust or duals. can anyone tell me how i can make it really loud but not to loud that its illegal, ty
4 or 6 cylinder? If its a 4, leave the cat on. I removed one off a '94 this past weekend and it was probably the worst sounding exhaust I have ever heard, with a 18" glasspack in the stock muffler location.
MemOrex has a good idea. Thats what the truck had before the cat was removed, and it didnt sound bad at all.
Who took off the cat? The cherry bomb from autozone is extremely restrictive, I'd go with an ultra flow bullet by Dynomax.. a few dollars more expensive but it'll give your v6 a V8 sound, and be loud.
I ran Dynomax race bullets for a few weeks. You want loud and unrestrictive they'll do the trick. Of course your neighbors will be calling the cops and leaving you death threats.
They're very loud, I have a bad enough time with cops with my flow40, I had a bullet on for a while, but sold it to my cousin because he needed one and i wanted a new flavor of sound.. now I wish I didn't.
loud exhaust is weaksauce. If you want something loud, do it right with a 2.5 or 3 inch system with a nice sounding high flow muffler. Just hacking of the muffler and putting straight pipes on sounds like crap to me.
I ran true dual straight pipe for a some days...its loud. but thats it, loud. Has no tone to it...very raspy. Now i just run 3" pipe with fm10 series and it sounds much better. Still sets off car alarms at idle
