I've got a 55 f100. Disk on the front and drum in the rear. Power brakes were on it when I bought it but it was drum front and back. I installed the disk kit myself. The master cylinder went out. It looks like the guy before me thru stuff together. I want to replace the brake booster and master cylinder but I don't know what will work. Thanks for your help.
I can't help you with specifics on master and booster part numbers, but others here probably can. Typically, the master has different sized resevoirs and pistons for disc or drum, since disc want more volume. Many vendors sell those setups.
It may be helpful to look over the website linked below. It is a good reference for components and complete setups.
Randy has some good advice. I recently did the conversion on my truck. I don't know if your Master Cylinder is mounted on the firewall or frame? If it's on the firewall, you may want to check the bolt pattern for the MC. I found out mine was a Chevy pattern so I went with the Dual Disc MC. Both fluid bowls are the same. If the pattern is Ford, a popular one is for the 70 Mustang which has the large bowl for disc and the smaller in the rear. Take your MC off and take it to the auto parts, they can match the bolt holes and tell you what works. You definitely want to go with the disc MC setup.
I just finished posting pics on the brake conversion I did on my 56, Check out my gallery, there is pic of the new MC also.
There are a great bunch of folks here who will help you out with any questions you may have. When you get a chance, set up your gallery so we can see your truck. We get all tingly when we get to see a new project.
Once you get your gallery set up, upload a couple of pictures of your brake master cylinder and booster. Some of the folks here can probably ID it for you just by looking. It's happened a couple times recently.
