Push Button transfer case

I am working on my dads 95 bronco. He wants to be able to pull it 4 on the ground behind his new camper. To do this with an automatic the transfer case would need to be in a nutral position. With the touch drive there is no selectable nutral.

Question is. Is neutral still there like in a standard case and can a position be made available? Anyone ever done this?

My other option is to find him a manual transfer case and swap it out so it will have a neutral.

Any ideas?

Or just disconnect the front and rear drivelines. Easier than replacing the t-case.

Sorry, no answer for the neutral question...I always go for the manual t-case just for that reason. Towing a 4x4 is easier when you have that option.

Cant do that, Dads 62 and does not want to crawl under that thing every time he pulls in somewhere. He bought this bronco last year to replace his old one, found one with 28000 original miles, cant be choosy when your looking for a 10 year old truck with that low of miles.

Thanks

Ahh well in that case...replace the t-case. So I take it you have push button hubs and t-case? If so, while you are replacing the t-case, switch to manual hubs....MUCH stronger.

I already swapped out the hubs, Ive owned 4 broncos myself and half a dozen trucks in the last 20 years. Self locking hubs and i dont get along very well. This is only the 4th vehicle ive played with that has the touch drive. Never needed a nutral on the bronco II so i did not mess with that. Only reason for the N now is so the old boy can tow it.

Thanks

I think the t case is the same - manual shift or electronic

I have a 93 manual and a 95 automatic and they look the same. Only difference is one has shift linkages and the other has an electric motor.

Looks like you could remove the electric motor, remove floorpan opening and install a shifter through the floor.

I bet your right. it would be most likley that they use the same case and just a few different components for the different shift options. I will probably wait till i have more time this fall and pull one apart and see if i can swap the shift mechanism. that would make me feel the best about it since its so low milage.

Thanks
