Propane/gas?
But I did run this set-up. It's not even hard to obtain. Probably the easiest place to get one would be J.C. Whitney. There's a regulator you'd bolt to your fender and a unit that sets above the carb. When propane is in use you pull a cable(like a choke cable) and it drops down onto the carb. Gas and propane flow is controlled by solenoids so you aren't using both at once. This is all sorta old-tech so there's plenty of info available and reputable companies to deal with. Used units sell for approx. 100 dollars around here without the tank. I THINK you can get a new one for around 200-250 dollars, but I'm not sure. The only downside I ever found was that with everything sitting on top of the carb it's darned hard to put out a carb fire. Then again if you aren't shooting ether into the element like an idiot, you shouldn't have that problem.
You will suffer a slight power loss on propane. But that can easily be overcome with higher compression. Propane has 105 octane rating. Doing that however will ruin your gas capability(unless you've got 105 gas).
Other mods to consider, good valves and propane hardened seats(like seat inserts for pre-hardened heads only harder. Propane has NO lubricating qualities.
I'm sure someone else will have more to add. Goodluck.

I have used straight propane set ups and "dual fuel" set ups. They work fine if set up properly.Alot depends on your propane source! e-mail if you want more info. Jerry P scheernj@mtcnet.net
