Radiator cap
Anywho, searched through some threads and read where some suggested maybe the radiator cap was bad, causing air to enter the system and not keeping the system under pressure (I had foam in the radiator).......if not the cap, could be a head gasket (if coolant in the oil), or a water pump could be leaking, allowing air). So, I bought a cap and guess what? No more coolant blowing....unbelieveable that my original cap died, after only 21 years.
What a great forum.
Over the years, the lid on mine became loose, and it would allow the comingling of the washer fluid and the coolant. I tried re-sealing it, but it still wouldn't seal properly.
I ended up going to Carquest and getting a dedicated coolant overflow bottle and bolting that to the radiator support. Now the coolant stays over there and the washer fluid stays in the original container, unmixed with coolant.
What made my situation worse is the fact that my F250 has the 4600lb. front axle option, and all of that bouncing up-and-down would cause my coolant to splash out of the original container, even after the lid was glued back down... it would splash out through the hole where the tube went into the container, and if I wasn't vigilant, the tube itself would fly out, too.
The new setup is MUCH better.
