This sounds real simple but Im having a hell of a time trying to change my TFI module. I did the test according to Haynes and its defective. At least ill change it and find out.
Ive tried 3,4,5,6mm sockets and the almost equivalent SAE sockets on the 2 bolts. I got a mirror and they are hex bolts on there. I heard once theres a special tool for it.
Ive seeked help at autoparts stores(was told its a hard to get 5.5mm deep socket), ford dealership(useless a&$%*$)...
I tried the 7/32" socket which is 5.56mm and didtn work either.
PLease help soon.
Thanks.

Reason: bolts
Its a 1990 351 EFI Bronco. I believe its still the stock TFI module.
It says Mastercraft. Ive been having erractic problems starting, and its cut out on me a few times while driving.
i changed the TFI module. Went to 3 autoparts store and the dealer to ask about the socket for removing it. None of them knew about it and said just use a socket. So i went to the autoparts store again and saw 3 of them on the shelf labelled. FORD IGNITION MODULE TOOL. $7.95
Any other othen deep sockets dont work. I tried them all.
Thanks. Runs much better. Starts right away and doesnt stall. Now just need new exhaust
I was not able to use the special TFI socket on my truck. I used a 5.5mm deep well socket, 1/4"-drive. It worked perfectly. (I had to buy a lot of sockets to figure out 5.5mm!) Anyway, AutoZone had the 5.5mm socket in stock.
I used the 1/4 inch drive deep 7/32 laser etched Craftsman socket to remove mine. I had to tap on the end of the socket with the rachet on a Taurus. i have used that socket on a taurus, my 89 dually, 90 ford ranger and my 92 Bronco.
