Hi, I am on my second 2004 F150 now and my bad luck keeps getting worse. I bought a brand new 2004 f150 supercab xl 4x4 18 months ago, and i had nothing but troubles, ac sucked, sterring wheel nibble, cam pahser problems, engine would misfire. I had it to the dealership mutliple times, some problems got fixed, some they never could fix, so i ended up deciding to trade it in, and i was going to buy a 2005 f150 fx4 supercrew, but than i found a 2004 f150 fx4 supercrew (dealer demo) that was fully loaded, had pretty much every option avaible, so i ended up buying that one. Well now i am having problems with this truck, it had a paint defect, which delaer took care of no problem, but it also has a steering wheel shimmy, but only at 75 to 85 mph, and they did road force balance the tires, but it stills shimmys a little once and a shile, which i guess i can live with, the other problem i am having is when accelerating between 55 to 65 mph, and between 2700 to 3500 rpms, it feels like you are going over a rumble strip, i took it in to the dealer and the found a tsb for it, and installed a wedge kit, and test drove it and said it was good, so i went and picked it up and it seemed alot better but now 2 weeks later it is as bad as ever. I also think i may have the cam pahser issue with this truck to, souns like a faint knocking noise coming from passenger wheel well, and can hear it in the cab faintly. has anyoine else had the vibration/shudder when accelerating like me, and waht fixed the problem.
Thanks
yep it has the 3.73 limited slip rearend. Is replacing the clutch packs the fix? All they did so far was install a wedge kit, whci did nothing, it is just as bad or worse now.
Did you get a fix for this rumble strip issue. I have this on slight acceleration at any speed. Sounds like right front wheel, feel it strong in the gas pedal region. Last just a couple seconds if that long. Oh! what is a wedge kit?

I had same problem with 03' FX4. Vibration felt like it was in front end and gas pedal. Ford replaced the clutch packs and it was fixed. I could really tell when I was turning into parking places. Good luck man..

Yes, they change the clutch packs and use a slightly different fluid in the rear end. Most people state their trouble goes away. They have also found a dragging brake cable can cause somewhat of a same kind of issues. You can verify by driving it awhile and then touching rear brake rotors- they will be very hot. Don't give in till they fix it right. If no luck try a different dealer- they have to repair it if it still is under warranty.
