I turned my heater on the other day, first time this year, and it blew nice warm air no problem for about 5 minutes. Then it started this terrible rumbling/clanking noise. At first i thought the engine was gonna blow so I pulled over and shut it down. After checking under the hood everything seemed to be OK, I started her back up- no real noise. but shortly there after clankety clank clank. I turned the radio down to hear it better, then I turned the heater to off, and the sound died. When i turned it back on low fan- very little sound, high fan- medium noise buildiing to loud over a few minutes.
Is my fan fried?
what can I replace in there?
Is this going to be a pull the dash type thing?
I agree, it sounds like the blower motor in your heater has a bad baring. It will keep working until the baring finally siezes. Mine did the same thing. Used it until it wouldn't blow no more!
Mine is doing that right now. Does it if it cold out for a few mintues then the sound dies when truck is warmed up. Just haven't had the time to change it out. Might want to do the heater core at the same time for general maintence.......
