Ok, forgive me if this has already been covered recently but it is 2:45 AM here, On my '90 Reg Cab XLT Lariat the driver side PW quit while it was down, not even a motor sound at all, we took the door panel apart at work and hit the motor and it moved in spurts until it was up. Now how hard is it to replace the gears and motor, the motor is riveted in.
Second on my '89 SCAB XLT Lariat I noticed last week that there was a fairly deep gouge/score on the outside of the glass that is slowly getting deeper, what is causing this and how hard is this piece of glass to find?
Thank you guys in advance for everything!
P.S. Thank God for wing windows and A/C.

Reason: change
I just repaced the passenger side motor in my 90. It was a real pain in the ***. I got the motor for $35 at a junkyard. I think that you could probably get a window pretty cheap, too. I swear that Ford put in the motor then put the inner and outer door skins together. There is one screw in the middle that I needed tin snips and my girlfriend's small hands to get to. I can't imagine it being less than a 2 person job. I hope you have an afternoon of spare time and a lot of beer for when you're done.
To tell you the truth, after replacing that motor I filed the job under "things I'll never do again".
Just drill out the 3 indentions with a large drill bit and use a nut driver to remove the screws. After doing one, I finished the other side in about 20 minutes. Check the 3 plastic plugs inside the motor before buying a new one;my window did the same thing and it was only the $5.99 plugs. You can find em in the help section at autozone; called window regulator plugs.
90xlt4x4 is right on the money with this one. There are numerous posts on here about this and all with basically the same info. I have done both of my motors and they work fine.
Ok, are the door panels from JC whitney any good? My 90 has some broken plastic pieces now , and as an update the motor is FRIED, went to move the window up more before it rains because it sagged down and some smoke came up from the gap between the door and panel and all sounds of the motor are now gone, the volt gauge doesn't even register a drain now. I hope the harness did not fry.
