Okay, I admit that I bought Seafoam Deep Creep and had NO CLUE where my Aero's trottle body (much less, the air filter ) is in my van. SO....when I had the oil changed at the local joint I asked them to decarbon for me.
NO MORE CLATTERING SOUNDS UNDER LOAD!
They put something in my gas tank as well as the intake manifold and she runs like a dream now!
If only I could find someone to help me fix some other miscellaneous gremlins, then I could quit searching Ebay for a more desireable Aero!
I haven't found Seafoam yet, but ran half a can of Berryman's B12 (the carb cleaner)through the throttle body at half throttle (lots of heat under hood, my arms were fried!) and it smoked quite a bit. Less pinging under normal driving but I still have a pretty decent amount of pinging in the 40-60mph range in lockup under load (uphill, accelerating, etc). Engine heats up a wee bit (to M or A of NORMAL) when this happens too. I really need to set the base timing properly instead of by ear. That might cure my pinging.
I bought Seafoam at Autozone. They seem to keep it in stock. I guess we'll use it on my hubby's 97 F-150 since I didn't use it in my old gal. The engine comaprtment in his truck looks easier to decipher than my Aero's does!

air cleaner box in rt front corner of engine compartment. into MAF, then large black plastic air tube to throttle body which is aluminum and is mounted on front of plenum chamber.
loosen stainless steel clamp on t.b. end of black tube.
you have the Deep Creep aerosal version of Seafoam, pull back black tube to expose a small gap with throttle body, insert Deep Creep spray tube and spray with engine at half throttle.
do not do while parked in garage, smoke will wipe out mosquitos for blocks. small children disappear in the smoke cloud.
I'm too cheap to buy Seafoam, just use plain old pint of water, drive 10 miles to heat up engine to operating temp, best on hot day, then same technique.
would a small amount of antifreeze help the water method, I wonder? I remember a blown head gasket at the water jacket-cylinder divider...never seen a cleaner piston crown in a running engine
