2005 Console question

Just bought a new 2005 XLT Screw with the 40\20\40 front seats. Does anyone know what the two storage compartments in the console lid are for? Thanks for your help.

What is that big space behind the rear window and in front of the tailgate for?

Are you talking about the 2 small rectangles in front of the big hole. If so what ever you want. I put change there as it has the foam on the lid to keep it from rattling.

No, the two compartments on the lid itself. They are not the same so it appears they were designed for something in particular.

Thumbs up Center Console Extras

I looked in the manual tonight. Found it in the back index under console. I knew or guessed it was for a box of kleenex but I wanted to know the size of box it was designed for. After measuring, nothing I have seen in the store or on the internet says what the box size. No doubt it is a special hard to find box. The Kleenex website, www.kleenex.com, in their FAQ's recommends to call them. I will work on that one.

But what I was surprised about was that there are 2 clips for pens, on either side of the kleenex opening and just behind the coin slots is a slot/compartment for a PDA. I think the PDA slot will be too small for mine but may work for a small calculator, electronic air pressure guage or something else. The nice thing about this, if you use these compartments for something useful, the next time you look for it, it should be easy to find instead of searching through a bunch of junk mixed up in the console.

Thumbs up

I don't know if the console lid is the same (I have a '05 SCREW with captain's chairs), but CD's fit fairly nice in the funny holder under the console lid. You have to keep the CD's in their jewel case.

Ya i was using it for CD's for awhile but if I had to break abruptly or something the cd's fell out of that holder really easy, and into the console they went.

The pen holders do come in handy though and the PDA holder is way to small to fit mine but fits credit card size things very nicely. I keep my AAA & Costco card in there. Of course, nothing personal like a credit card, but things I wouldn't really mind getting stolen I guess...haha.

These are "travel-size" tissues, and I've found them in several stores. But they don't come in a box, just a clear plastic bag.

Ford sells the right size Kleenex box for the compartment. I used to have them for my explorer.

As for maps, I use Thomas Bros. Guides....i don't think that will fit in there...haha
