My 94 300 just started rattling a while back especially at low throttle and when it starts into a new gear, just for a few seconds. had the timing checked and its at about 10 btdc, so we figured that the egr was screwed up and pretty sure thats whats causing the problem. I changed the throttle body gasket, it was sucked in and rotted pretty bad, but the engine didnt ping for like 3 months after that. weird. Much improvement in idle now, doesn't stumble only a little quiver now and again. So i dicided to take her for a good 250 km run and burn some of the carbon out, and put some octane booster in it. Didnt know the truck tops out at about 140km/hr! Anyway, theres barely any pinging in it now.
Does anyone know how a faulty egr would cause this at only part throttle, and how come the older models dint have this thing and not ping? Thank You for any replies!

Mine did the same thing but I fixed mine by replacing the lower intake gasket. It still pings a little on hot days, heavy loads, or right after shifting. I need to check my fuel pressure again. I think my pumps may be weak or the P.O.S fuel pressure regulator isn't holding the right pressure.
