timing lights????

what exactly do i need to set the timing on a 1990 f150 with a 302 engine. i had to pull the distributor to change all that ignition stuff. i made little marks to put the new stuff back in same as the old but i'm guessing there's more to it than that. the idles way high and it gets hot so i haven't driven the truck much at all.
Get the inductive light like quick says. It clips on to the battery and the #1 wire.
Warm the truck up and then shut it down. Hook the light up.
Loosen the dizzy hold down bolt enough so that it doesn't move freely but moves if you hit it lightly.
Remove the spout connector. On my '91, it's a small grey plug about 6" from the dizzy. Pull it out and start the truck up. It disables the computer advance.
Point the timing light at the marks on the passenger side of the block and see if something jumps out at you. If not, you may have to get down there and look at the balancer and find the mark. Put some white out on it to make it stand out.
Then move the dizzy around until you get it spot on.
It's a lot easier than people think.
