Ive been wondering what the best way to do a burnout is in a manual, but is easier on the clutch, i could really rip it up in my old cougar (too bad i sold it)

hold the brake with your right foot and use your heal on the gas

My way? Dump the clutch and get on the brakes as fast as you can. Usually works good. Then when you need to shift just go like lightning and get back on the brakes.

When you do it, make sure there's no cop around. I was doing a stationary burnout last week, and received a ticket for careless driving. He stated he could have written it up as reckless, but cut me a break.

would popping the clutch be better for it than having it half engaged?

Less wear on the clutch to have it fully engaged. How do I do it with the Mustang. Take it to 6000rpm with my heel, toe lightly on the brake and let it rip.

The best way to do a burn out with a manual is in 2nd gear, that is, if you've got the horsepower.

If your any good at it, you can start in 1st, then shift to 2nd, but this takes a lot of practice.

It's a display of power and control that you have over your vehicle. It's all a show. Ego booster if you pull them off successfully in crowds.

The real benefit is to the tire manufacturers. They love burnouts.

i got a 300-6 so second around 2000 rpms would probably be a good range, but what kind of damage can popping the clutch do?

300 6 and you want to do burnouts? Sell it and buy a motor that will spin fast enough to keep the tires turning. What kind of damage will the suggestions do?

--broken motor mounts

--broken differential

--worn brakes

--worn clutch

--broken drive shaft and or u joint

If you must, get the "Line Lock" or similar system that holds front brake pressure, and use water or soapy water to start the spin.

Burnouts are really the heat the tires for max grip. Not much need for that with a 300.....

in my ranger, after i fixed the cam timing, i had to drop it at at least 4000 then get onto the breaks, but if i hit the breaks to hard it would bog down and try to die. inmy dads pickup you can be rolling and puch the gas and it will start to spin, apply brakes as needed!!!
