hey slash, here's some info. shhhhh....don't tell anyone else....or they might bid on it and jack the prices up too. Now keep in mind, this is just to give you some options and ideas. I'm not saying you need to get these, but for the price and quality it's tough to beat. And this is not on the other well know auction site, so the prices are kept very reasonable over here. It's on ubid do t com.

Cadence 5.25" coaxial 2 way speakers (Item 601447715) Price $9
Bazooka 8" SVC subwoofers (10455666) Price $33 each, 2 subs for $66
JVC 4 Channel Amp to run them all(80357751) Price $99

Total for amp, two subs, and 2 way speakers======$174.

Not too shabby, IMHO. Again, the brand and models is up to you and yer pocket book. If you get some time, check out ubid do t com and overstock do t com. (Just don't tell the other guys and gals here, because I'm eyeballin some items myself. )

i just ran into some pioneer 6x9s and was thinking about just putting them behind the seats, one in each corner, to kinda give it some surround sound and they were a lot cheaper than what yall are talking about. i think ill just keep the boom in the house for now and wait till i get a nice steady cash flow before i add some woofers to the truck. plus my truck doesnt have locking doors and i dont want to go through the hassle of getting new cylinders.

you can get 6X9 boxes at walmart for like 15 bucks each or so. I bet if you put some decent 6X9's in them boxes, you would get some decent bass and sound out of them, or put a little 200 watt amp in there to power them and they would sound nice.

ive got a "little" audiovox 20W+20W amp, i think it would work pretty good powering those pioneers. how much bass is typically to be gotten from a standard 6x9?

I'd just power if off of the HU, it'll sound a lot better. The bass depends on the speaker, don't expect anything huge or nice from it.

50 watts max, but it'll sound like crap if you crank it.

Hey guys, well, i just ran across two cerwin vega 12" subs in a box and hooked up for 40$. so i jumped on it, i believe they are the HUD or HED series, something like that. the box is in ok shape, but its going behind the seat so it doesnt matter. Now, what type of amp should i get, and how big a amp should i get? Remember, its in a SINGLE cab, so i dont want nothin tooo sick.

Well, how much can them subs handle? You are probobly gonna want around a 400 watt amp. nothin too much and get some nice bass out of them.

im not sure, they look to be pretty stiff woofers, i was told max power was like 1200, and normal power was somewhere around 4 to 500. whats a good reliable brand amp, somewhere in the 400 to 500 watt range.

Those subs aren't bad, for an introductory model to the Cerwin Vega subs. I think I'm a lifetime CV consumer. The HED models are going for dirt cheap on ebay and ubid brand new. But you still got a good deal. Have you tested them to make sure they are in good working order? Check the dust cap and outer ring foam to make sure they are not loose. Also, you might want to open the box up to see if they are wired in parallel or series and if they are SVC or DVC so you don't burn up or overwork your amp.

Cerwin VEGA HED Specs

Here's the specs:

12" Subwoofer
HED-1200 (single) or
HED-1202 (dual)
Voice Coil

20-500 Hz

RMS: 250 watts
Maximum: 600 watts

(2.8v/1m): 90 dB

SVC MODELS: 4 ohms
DVC MODELS: 4 ohms/coil

11" (280 mm)

5 5/16" (135 mm)

Push those with a nice clean source and they should sound really good. Ebay has some sweet deals on amps. Find something around 300 wRMS altogether and they'll pound. Good luck.
