I want to install an aftermarket 4.11 locker style center section in my 77 F100, 9" rear end. I am currently looking at an Auburn locker, but have heard good things about the detroit locker. Any one had good/bad experiences with any one type. Any comments greatly appreciated.
The Detroit locker is tried and true. It is a ratcheting type and may chatter a little bit in a corner, but it is about as good as you can get.
The Auburn unit is stronger that a Trac-Lok and is quieter than the Detroit Locker, but is not quite as strong. It is still a good unit.
I have to agree with lxman1........Detroit locker is a good one to go with. I have one in a 79 Bronco. The stock Trac-Lok unit went to hell in a hand basket. The Detroit locker is alittle nosie but it will out last and perform better than most.
