Few common questions?

Hello,

I've been browsing your forums here and they are very imformative, so i decided to sign up. I bought my first truck 2 weeks ago. 1988 F250 and i love it!!! It is a 2 wheel drive, with an inline 6 and a 4 speed. I'm a huge Ford enthusiest, I've owned a mustang since I was 16 years old, I'm think I'm on my 21st mustang and now i'm extremely happy with my truck!!!

I just had a few simple questions, I've already searched looking for answers with no luck, so i'll try them here. First does anyone know the displacement of the inline 6 in my truck (200-300ci), and what is the name of the 4 speed. Is it the T10? Or would anyone know where i can decode the vin, and find vehicle specs on that year model truck? Second, I've found lift/leveling kits for F150's and F250's with 4X4 and diesel and gas V8's but nothing for the 6 cylinder 2 wheel drive. Are the F250 suspensions the same with different engine combinations. I'm just looking to tuck 285/75R16's or i'd really like to go with some 315/75R16's. Not too high right now, maybe in a few years after i'm finished restoring the truck i want to lift it up real nice, and add a nice 351 with a 6 speed.

Well any help will be greatly appreciated.

good luck to everyone with their projects!!

thanks

Hi Monster, the engine 300-6 Inline is a 300 cubic inch/ 4.9L.
Good motor, has extra main bearing than the v-8's and durable torque worker.
The Trans,manual 4sp. is probally a T-18 which began in 1988.
The VIN I can help you with if list it for me.
The other stuff cannot or do not know much about.
DAJ.

Thank you for the reply, One of the first things i am doing is replacing the sloppy shifter with a hurst, I wasn't sure which trans i had. I really just want to level the truck out, so i'm trying to research on a leveling kit, or can i buy heavy duty coils for the front suspension.

thanks again for all your help

The coils out of a truck that had a larger engine should lift it up some. The guys in the suspension forum would probably know more about which engines came with which stiffness of coil.
