Hesitation

I RECENTLY PUT NEW MOTORCRAFT PLUGS AND WIRES IN THE 97 4.6l AND NOW AND THEN I'M STILL GETTING A CHUGGING. IT NOT FOR VERY LONG. THE CEL DOES NOT COME ON. I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO GO AFTER.

A CO WORKER SAID A FORD MECHANIC TOLD HIM TO PUT SOM SLICK 50 OR SOMETHING OF THAT NATURE IN THE TRANS. AND HE SAID THAT FIXED IT.

JUST LOOKING FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS BEFORE I PUT IN ADDITIVES.

When you say chugging, can you give more info...like RPMs when this happens..condiftions? How many miles on the truck?

It’s More Like A Chugging Or A Hiccup. It’s Not All The Time, And It Happens At Low Rpm Going Fast Or Slow. It Feels The Same As When I Had A Bad Plug Wire And It Was Arcing To The Head But Its Not The Wires.

First I would DOUBLE check the wires....just cause they are new doesn't mean they are all good. Check under the hood in as dark an area as you can. Easier to see. Then I would take it to a local parts store and just in case it does have any codes in memory, I would check if any codes were sent. I had about the same issue, where it would almost seem like it was struggling a bit until it got to higher RPM's, (another truck), I replaced the motor, and still nothing. it turned out to be that the puter was freaking out so it had to be re-flashed. Worked fine after that. The puter was allowing the gears to change to the next higher way too early, giving the truck a feel like a manual tranny trying to start off on 2nd or 3rd gear from a stop. Once the rpms got up past 1700, it would smooth out and drive fine.
