Misfiring

My 1999 Ford 4x2 4.2l Is Misfiring When Cold In The Morning. Under Light Acceleration It Is Fine But Even When Warm If I Give More Than Light Throttle It Starts To Misfire. I Have Changed Plugs (champions, And A New Air Filter). I Am Wondering If I Need Either Wires, Fuel Filter, Or A Coil. I Am Not Sure What I Needs But It Is Annoying. One Day I Started The Truck And Was Running On About Three Cylinders For 2 Miles Then It Was Fine.

Please Let Me Know

hi, for a few $ a hand held code scanner is a good start to help you spending too much money. i have saved simply by being directed to the direct fault and giving me the cylinders that were misfiring. In my case it was a vacum problem.
hope this helps. bokker.

My first guess: Plug wires.
Been there, done that.

Bad wires will cause exactly what you describe.
