Correct me if I am wrong but muy understanding is that while my 2004 Expy has a full-size spare, the rim it is mounted on does not have a "low tire" indicator. If so, I assume the spare is not being put into play when I have the tires rotated. I now have a very slow leak, a pinprick, in the sidewall of one the in-use tires. Can I switch this tire with the spare (changing rims of course) and use the slow leak tire as the spare, or is there something I am missing? The slow leak occurs only when the tire is in use, so it should be OK as a spare. thanks
If the rim size and tire size is the same for the spare go for it. The tire pressure moniter will not be an issue. As for your new spare I would carry a small air pump just incase. You will never be sure if the pinhole is leaking or not without checking it.
Bob,
The garage tells me leaks in sidewalls cannot be repaired even though minor. A patch of any kind will work loose as the sidewall flexes. I'd rather wait and buy four new ones at the same time (approaching 40,000 now) insterad of a single new now.
