I have a '95 7.3 powerstroke and I was wondering how long a catalytic converter lasts. I have 244,000 miles and I'm going to get it cut off. Any thoughts?

yes and no... hehe
anything that blocks exhaust flow will result in a power loss, and a superchips tuner is better than stock, but there are better options, such as a flip chip
send that cat packin'..! but wait till you get all the mods you want on your truck.. then get a custom flip chip setup for your truck... lots of guys in here can tell you who to call when you are ready...
dont mod it, it has 244,000 miles on it. if you care for it the truck will last forever. if you mod it it will stress everything and shorten its lifespan
I'm selling my 95 with 225000 miles on it , I took cat off and gutted it and put in k&n and removed muffler and put in straight pipe and you definitely feel the difference and not to mention how much better it sounded......oh also it went from 18 to 20 mpg
i've had no problem at all with my k&n, had it for two years and had a fella bring it to his mechanic and check engine out ,turbo checked out fine. my driving habits are hiway so that probrably makes a diff on filter.........
I'll disagree with the members here a little, don't bother to cut off the cat unless you also install a new down pipe at the same time you ditch the cat. The cat alone is a restriction, but it doesn't create as much EGT as the stock down pipe does. If you replace the down pipe and the cat with a pipe and delete like the one we stock you'll immediately notice a faster spool up on your turbo, lower EGT's and potentially better MPG too. Slide up under your truck or visit our site to see what a stock down pipe looks like, you'll be amazed your truck runs as well as it does right now. Call us if you have any questions etc, we are always here to help.

It hard to argue with this logic especially since most folks I know have done as he suggests: new downpipe and cat gone at the same time. In fact its usually new exhaust system including Downpipe, cat gone, and muffler replaced or removed entirely.
4" seems to be the optimal exhaust size. Those that have gone larger report to perceptible performance gain.
the OBS's downpipe is very restricted, not much room between the firewall and the other parts. so they had to smash the pipe down so it would fit. a 3 or 4'' down pipe requires some firewall bulging. but the muffler is better then the new body style. OBS= bad downpipe and better muffler, NBS= good down pipe and poor muffler. they couldnt get it right.
