I just scored a 77 1/2 F-250 4x4 for $600. It runs and drives good, BUT,the sheet metal has been beat, no rust (NM truck)but dings and dents everywhere. I also have a 75 F-100 with very good sheetmetal and I mentioned to the guy at the shop down the street that I was thinking about switching everything from the 75 to the 77 including the cab. He told me the cab mounts were different and it would be a real PITA. I have'nt crawled under there to look or measure yet so does anyone know about this or have done this? Anything you have to share about this I would appreciate hearing. TIA Some day I want to shorten the frame and put the short box on there too. I love the look of a lifted 70's Ford 4x4 with a short wide bed, but that's another story for another day
just did that a few days ago! 75 cab on a 79 F250 frame. scroll down the page to see the thread big ed gets bigger. mine is a supercab but nothing was different. also big eds old cab is a regular 73 cab on a 77 1/2 F250 chassis. hawkrod
that's a great idea, i don't think there's anything you need
to worry about, i would do it, if any!!! maybe the rear cab
mounts, but i'm not sure. but everything else should work
just fine. i would do it.
the frame mounts for the rear cab mounts are different, but i'm
not sure about the cab itself? so measure that, problably just
the width. check the width of the bed mounts also, but the
bed you can drill some new holes. good luck,
glenb

I just got done putting my 79 Cab on a 76 frame...I had NO problems with anything lining up. I would go for it it I were you. Just be prepared to spend some time on it. Good Luck!
Go for it, shouldn't be a problem. But, get about 6-8 buddies to help you lift it. I took the front clip off and lifted my old non-AC cab off sideways. Put the (heavier) AC Cab on the same way. I would get new mounting hardware. (rubber dunots, bolts and screws. I wouldn't doubt that you could get the stuff from this site.
