Engine shutter

97 Expedition EB 5.4 L 92,000mi, engine shutters and vibrates at 3,000 RPM then goes away. Do I need a tune up? Check eng light not on.

Does this feel like its coming through the driveline? I'm thinking this is more a tranny issue (I hope not). You may just have to wait for a code or a failure. In the meantime I would check vacuum lines and other hose connections for splitting, softness and such.

It doesnt feel like its coming through the driveline or transmission. It almost feels as if the throttle body is getting too much or too little air? And I'm sure its coming from the front end.

Have you looked at your OD (overdrive) light to see if its blinking? If it is, its a tranny issue. This light will go off after a bit if not noticed and will stay off upon restart till the next signal sets it off. Just one thing to look for.

I would definately check the IAC valve and lines and the DPFE for corrosion build up in the inlets, the original is pott metal and corrodes the vacuum inlets.
